I love reading other people's blogs and getting inspired to try something new or do something differently. This morning I had no kids about and spent a lot of time reading online. A post at
sew liberated (about kids and nature) caught my eye and I checked out some of her links. There is lots of good stuff about children being outdoors. I think it's something I struggle with a bit as our outdoor space is quite small and not easily accessible (none of that indoor outdoor flow going on). In an effort to get outside late this afternoon, the youngest one and I got stuck in raking up some leaves and sweeping the path. Mr bookworm (who had been inside reading a new library book) soon donned his gumboots and joined us. Within a short time they were up the tree playing a game of pirates. Jumping down into the big pile of leaves was fun too. When it was time to make dinner they didn't want to come in, head torches were requested! It felt really good to get outside, we really need to do it more (if you've ever seen our garden you'd agree!). We walk to school and kindy all the time but just mucking about is really nice.

Just discovered your blog via KMB and it's stunning! I could oo and ah over your emotionally captivating, beautiful photographs all evening. Love the fun you had in the autumn leaves.... I need to find some! A trip to the Wellington Botanical gardens is where I shall get my fix :)
I also just found your blog through KB - looks like the kids had a ball! I have a hard time keeping Elijah inside - he gets up to all sorts of mischeif outside but I love watching him play pretend.
Lovely blog :D
Getting outdoors is great at anytime, climbing trees and having fun - autumn is magic with all the colours and leaves.
