organised home project 1: the linen cupboard

Megan at MouseHouse (blog) is doing an organised home challenge this year.  I figured that with both boys off to school soon I have hardly any reason not to have an organised home (at least some of the time!).   So this week's challenge was the linen cupboard.  It took a while but it was so worth it.  I also did the cupboard beside it (games, crafty stuff etc) and between the two managed two bags of stuff for charity and a big lot of rubbish.  I moved the towels down to the kids level too, for those times when I forget a towel and call out to the wee slaves to grab one.

We use duvets on all of our beds and so once we've folded a bottom sheet and duvet cover I put them into one of the pillow cases (top shelf).  It makes it so easy when it comes time to change the beds, no scrounging about for the right bits and pieces.  I even found room in the cupboards for our duvet (which had been neglected under our bed in the heat), the extra shopping bags (most of them are in the boot of the car) and I moved the big crafty box from under our bed too (really shouldn't have been there all these years).

Is it weird to love decluttering?

it looks awesome Meg! great idea putting your duvet covers and sheet together. loving your rolled up towels too, so much easier for kids to grab. and i'm sure it's not weird to love decluttering! i feel a million bucks when I've done some, i actually find it really calming too, like going into a zen zone or something! yesterday I took all our old pillows to the red cross shop here and an elderly lady outside admired my pile of them as i was walking towards the store and asked if she could have some, was funny to see her walking across the road arms full of pillows! was nice to finally go and buy some new ones too which I had been meaning to do for about a year! thanks again for joining in the challenge :)

Awesome! I think you've just inspired me to reorganize my linen cupboard! Love the rolled up towels and putting the matching sheet and duvet cover in the pillow case.

YES I love the rolled up towels too! and decluttering gives me a warm fuzzy for days... until the mess kicks in again.
I need to redo my linen cupboard AGAIN (I only did it 2 months ago)
and I think I'm gonna use the rolled up towels idea!

I love decluttering too, for some reason it's just such a good feeling! I've been doing some at the moment too and you've nspired me now to do more!
Re the plant seedlings - yes i do just plant them with the egg cartons, I break or cut the cartons up when I plant the indivdual plants - but - I've decided i don't like planting seeds in egg cartons now, I didn't have much luck this year, They seem to dry out very easily if you're not vigilent with the watering.

Oh yeah I love the feeling afterwards. I keep opening the cupboard just to look at it and feel good. I've got the pantry and the junk/art cupboard done now...I think I'm done.
