biker boys

For the past few weekends we've been taking the kids out with their bikes in an effort to get those training wheels off.  We have no yard or driveway at home for bike riding and so the boys don't get a lot of time on their wheels.  Little one has got the hang of it now and so we just have to keep trying with big brother.  Apparently the best technique seems to be to get one of those balance bikes or alternatively remove the pedals from a bike (the cheaper option) so that they learn to balance before trying to pedal.  Wish I'd known that a couple of years back!

I took them by myself yesterday (B's working weekends at the moment) and got pretty sweaty running up and down beside #1.  I didn't get photos of him riding for obvious reasons. It's all good fun and it won't be long before they're both riding circles around us.

  1. Lovely photos :) We have been doing this exact same thing with our boys too, we have no where at home to ride but live not far from a school. Ben who is 6.5 just got the hang of the no wheels a few weeks ago after LOTS of hard work with his Dad, I had nothing to do with it. It's so amazing watching them get it and just take off, makes me feel like I am the first mother in the world whose child can ride a bike ;)
We have a balance bike for Mr 4.5 but I don't think they are all they are cracked up to be to be honest, don't think you are missing out on much.

  2. Those boys are so cute!!

so lovely to hear from you xx
