chia pudding

More yummy healthy food.  1/4 cup chia seeds, 1/2 cup almond milk, 2 TBSP of coconut and 2 tsp maple syrup.  Into two wee bowls, for a couple of hours (or overnight) in the fridge.  The seeds swell up and make it thick and kind of jelly like .We had them with defrosted raspberries but any fruit would be nice.  Apparently cinnamon and banana is good too.

chocolate peanut butter cups (raw & vegan)

Found the recipe here last night and had to give it a shot.  They're not too sweet so could do with a little more maple syrup in the chocolate I think.  I was short on coconut oil so made mini versions but I think that they're actually a pretty great size.  The chocolate part would have been smoother with more oil too.

best shoes ever

So what's a crazy Wonder Woman fan to do when she discovers that there are Wonder Woman converse sneakers in existence on this planet but they're not available in New Zealand?  That's right ONLINE SHOPPING BABY!  I was so excited when they arrived.  I had to get both the shoes and the high tops as they were both so awesome.  It's a bit ridiculous really, I have a lot of Wonder Woman stuff (including a Barbie doll and a signed mouse pad from when I met Linda Carter (see I am the mega geek)).  Maybe one day I'll post my collection here just for fun.  In the mean time I'm loving my new shoes.

today in many pictures (part 2)

Back in April I took a series of photos from 6am till bed time.  I always intended to go back and finish uploading them but here they are about six weeks later.

The boys and I eating dinner.  It's not even dark out yet!

DaddyB microwaving his dinner.  I love the weekends when we can all eat together.

Shower time.  The cat loves the shower.

Teeth need brushing, although this guy hates it (he has very sensitive gums).

 Bedtime story (read by DaddyB).

 A little reading in bed.

Queen's Birthday

I love Auckland (coming from Christchurch I didn't expect that I would!).  It is a wonderful city for free family events all year round.  This weekend we headed into the city to celebrate all things British.  There was badminton, lawn bowls (on astro turf amongst topiary bushes), board games (big and regular size), picnic tables, performances on stage (which we were too late to see) and a screening of a family movie each day.  Yesterday, when we went, it was Alice in Wonderland, today Mary Poppins.  There was even a Mad Hatters Tea Party preceding the film.  We spied the very late White Rabbit on his unicycle!

For the kids there was also a Famous Five activity which involved code breaking and hunting for clues.  Once you had the clues then you could search for the missing crown jewels and claim your reward.

After the festivities we headed out west to a big, big Lego show.
