the beautiful game

It feels like it's been a long football season this year.  Probably as I'm the manager (10th grade) and as the top team, we've had two evening training sessions a week plus Saturday games.  It's been really great to watch though, all of a sudden they're playing and passing like superstars. A big change over the past four years!

eleven

A wee after school party this year for turning eleven.

It was a spy/pokemon party so we had a "laser" challenge course.

They dressed in disguises for the chocolate game and played an interrogation game "who am I?".

After the cake and games we ordered in some pizzas and the kids watched a movie together.

x race

We did the X Race again this year (like last year) and it was an all blue affair.

The littlest team member was still in a cast and so couldn't run (so hard to stop him!) and had to wear a plastic bag for the rather long water walk. It was deep and tricky.

Once again an awesome family event.  Next year we won't be slowed down by that cast!

auckland art gallery

I know that these exhibitions aren't on any longer but they were so good when they were.  A super cool light exhibition and the massive white lego play area.  R befriended people on both sides of him and it was almost like a big cooperative game, he would have played all day if we'd let him.

hamilton gardens

In summer we made a pit stop at the Hamilton Gardens on the way back from Raglan.
It is an amazing place and we only wished that we'd had more time!

They have all these gorgeous themed gardens, English cottage (thought of you Mum), Italian, Japanese, Indian, American (post modern)...

It's not just gardens though, they've built bridges, gates and wee buildings to fit with their themes.

It was like having a wee world trip on the way home from holiday!

face paint... not just for kids

It was the school quiz night last Friday, we were a random assortment of super heroes.
